Bandar Mantin
Bandar Mantin ~ Mantin is located 15km to the North of Seremban and is located along the Federal route that links Kajang, a town in Selangor, and Seremban, the capital city of Negeri Sembilan. This small town forms a juncture to Lenggeng on its East, Pajam on its West, Beranang on its North and Bukit Mantin on its South.
Mantin, formerly known as “Setul”, was established by a group of Malay from Pantai, Seremban. The British soon developed the place because of the huge number of tin ore and they later brought in Chinese miners to the place. Because of the huge number of tin, the British called the place “Many Tin”. However, the Chinese miners had difficulty in saying “Many Tin” – they called the place “Man Tin” instead, and thus, the name “Mantin” has been used up till this day. There are also those who said that the British actually called this place “Mine Tin”. However, the locals, who were Malays, were not able to say “Mine Tin” they way the British did. The locals could only say “Man Tin” and this was how “Mantin” got its name (http://telecentre.my/mantin).
